City´s and State´s contribution to the Games

NOC´s President, Lárus L. Blöndal, the Mayor of Reykjavik, Dagur B. Eggertsson and Illugi Gunnarsson, the Minister of Education, Science and Culture, signed contracts last friday for the GSSE 2015. 

The estimated costs for hosting the GSSE is around 600 million kroner or about 4 million EUR. Reykjavik city´s contribution is in the form of sports halls rental costs and renewal and maintenance of equipment in the sports halls. The state´s contribution is in the general budget 2014 and 2015 and is total 100 million kroner or about 660.000 EUR. Both Reykjavik city and the state have a representative in the games´s organizing committee and these representatives have been active in preparing the games amongst others. 

The 1200 volunteers contribution is invaluable. They will be doing various projects before, during and after the games. 

The Golden Sponsors of the GSSE 2015 are ten top companies, Advania, Askja, Bílaleiga Akureyrar Höldur Europcar, Blue Lagoon, Eimskip, Icelandair Group, Íslandsbanki, Vífilfell, Vodafone and ZO-ON. 

The support of the state, Reykjavik city, The Ministry of Education, Science and Culture, Reykjavik Sports Union, the Golden Sponsors and others is invaluable for the execution of the Games.
