Opening Ceremony of the GSSE 2015

01.06.2015 22:07

The Opening Ceremony of the GSSE 2015 took place in Laugardalshöll tonight. Since the weather in Iceland is unpredictable, it was decided to hold the ceremony indoors. In June 1997, the Opening Ceremony was held in Laugardalsvöllur Stadium, and then it was snowing. Anything can happen when it comes to Icelandic summer weather.

The presenter of the Opening Ceremony was Þóra Arnórsdóttir. The singer Páll Óskar made sure that the audience had good fun in the opening act, which was inspired by Icelandic nature. With Páll Óskar on the stage were numerous dancers who participated in a successful and beautiful piece. Among the guests were the leaders of the countries involved in the Games.

The participants all walked on the stage with their flag barer before they turned to their seats. Lárus Blöndal the president of the NOC of Iceland and Marc Theisen representative from the European Olympic Committee adressed participants and visitors.

It was a great Opening Ceremony and shows everyone what to expect the next few days, magnificent Games.
