First Competition day is over

First Competition day is over and we saw many interesting results today. 

Shooting Competition started at 9 with Men´s Air Rifle and Marc-Andre Reinhard Kessler from Liechtenstein had the honor to win the first Gold Medal at the 2015 Games. Kesler made 198,8 points, Michael Mattle Liechtenstein made 197,9 points and William Vella Malta made 174.2 points.

Íris Eva Einarsdóttir Iceland won Gold Medal in Women´s Air Rifle. Carole Calmes Luxembourg was second. Íris Eva made 200,1 points and Calmes 196,7. Marilena Constantinou was third with 176,8 points.

Women´s Icelandic Team in Gymnastics won the Team Event. Dominiqua Alma Belányi won in Women´s All Around. Men´s Cyprus Team won the Team Event and Marios Georgiou won the Men´s All Around.

The first match in Women´s Volleyball was between Montenegro and San Marino. It´s the first time Montenegro takes part in the Games in Women´s Volleyball, but the team showed great spirit and won 3-0. The Games went 25-17, 21-25 and 25-14. Iceland and Liechtenstein, Women´s, competed against each other. Iceland won 3-0 with magnificent playing. The score was (22:25) (20:25) (21:25).

In Athletics, those are the results:

Panagiotis Ioannou (CYP) was first over the finish line in Men‘s 100 m run in the last event at Laugardalsvöllur. Charlotte Wingfield (MLT) won the Women‘s race.

Iounnou won in 10,64 seconds but results were delayed while judges reviewed photographs from the finish line. Christos Chatziangelidis (CYP) came second in 10,75 and Ari Bragi Kárason (ISL) third in 10,76, 2/100 ahead of Yoann Bebon (LUX).

Charlotte Wingfield (MLT) won the Women‘s race in 11,71 but Hafdís Sigurðardóttir (ISL) was second in 11,87 and Dimitra Kyriakdou (CYP) third in 12,04.

Hafdís was however called to the winner’s podium minutes later as she won the long jump earlier. She jumped 6,50 meters. Rebecca Camilleri (MLT) came second (6,15) and Ljiljana Matovic (MNE) third (5,60).

Amine Khadiri (CYP) won the Men‘s 800 m race in 1:56,72 and Bob Bertemes (LUX) the shot put with a throw of 19,11 m.

Sladana Perunovic (MNE) won the Women‘s 10000 m race in 36:56,48 minutes and Nikandros Stylianou (CYP) celebrated after Men‘s pole vault. He jumped 5,15 meters. The competition was moved indoors to Kaplakriki because of side wind.

In Women´s Basketball Icelands Team won Malta´s Team 83-73. Luxembourg won Monaco 88-55.

In Men´s Basketball Montenegro won Luxembourg 85-58.
